TRAKIA UNIVERSITY PARTICIPATES IN THE EUROPEAN HYDROGEN WEEK 2023 IN BRUSSELS



Trakia University participates in the European Hydrogen Week 2023 in Brussels A delegation of Thrace University - Stara Zagora, led by the rector Prof. Dobri Yarkov, participated in the largest annual event dedicated to hydrogen in Europe, organized jointly with the European Commission.

The European Hydrogen Week 2023 includes a four-day policy conference and high-level forum to which politicians and stakeholders are invited to discuss the latest developments, challenges and opportunities in the sector. The delegation of Thrace University is invited to participate with its scientific project "Development of scientific research and innovation at Thrace University in the service of health and sustainable well-being". It is attended by Prof. Dobri Yarkov and Prof. Miroslav Karabaliev from the Project Management Board, as well as Prof. Daria Vladikova and Assoc. Prof. Blagoi Burdin - scientific group working on the "Hydrogen and Fuel Cells" direction of the project.

The event was opened with a video address by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the keynote speech was given by Vice-President Maros Šefčovič on the role of hydrogen and the upcoming global challenges, and in particular the need to maintain the competitiveness of EU industry.

The European Clean Hydrogen Alliance's 7th Hydrogen Forum marks progress made to date and aims to take the next steps still needed to increase hydrogen production capacity across the supply chain to achieve the ambitious plan for hydrogen by 2030, in line with the REPowerEU plan.

The high-level conference focused on the importance and upcoming actions to support the EU's hydrogen infrastructure and energy transition and the European Hydrogen Bank.
